I'm 24 and I'm clinically depressed. A doctor at a psych ward I was in told me I'm bipolar. Now I had only met him for about five minutes and he's not my regular doctor. I'm not sure if I beieve what he says. He said something about the fact that I talk fast that's a symptom? I'm not sure. I am on meds prozac and welbutrin for my depression I also see a therapist once a week. I feel much better now. I guess my question is ....How can a doctor diagnose me with being bipolar in less than five minutes?

Rapid talking, movements and thoughts are a symptom. However some people act that way when under stress... so being a new doctor may have been stress. I suggest you see your regular doctor and discuss this with him/ her.

I think just trying is right. It’s a symptom…but certainly not something to base a diagnosis on in the span of five minutes. Are you seeing a psychiatrist or therapist? If so, maybe you could mention it to them.
