Well in this forum we have covered favourite foods, songs, movies, and TV shows. So for those of us who like to be entertained with a good book I started this thread.

What is the title of your favourite book?

Who is the author?

What is the genre?

What about this book makes it your favourite?

There are a few books I found very entertaining. But, if I had to choose, Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett, stands out in my mind. At the time, I selected the book out of curiousity; but, after I finished reading this story of friendship and love, I was thoroughly impressed.

Haha! I started the thread but forgot to answer my own questions.
The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio. It is a collection of 100 novellas so the genre is kinda hard to nail down. The 100 tales are told over the span of 10 days by seven ladies and three gentlemen. Each day has a theme and they each tell a story on the day's theme. I get bored very easily. This book is fantastic because there are so many types of stories it's impossible to get bored! The tales are interlinked but individual enough to keep my attention. I will warn anyone interested in reading it the only english version I found was translated in the early 1900s so the language is a bit dated.

There are too many to count....

The Alchemist
Atlas Shrugged
The Fountainhead
Crime and Punishment
The Decameron
Don Juan de la Mancha
The Cult of Narcissism
Being and Nothingness
Heart of Darkness
Old Man and the Sea

I could go on and on, but these days, it's trade journals and more hardcore reading. I've also found that the older I get, my patience with fiction wanes and I begin to lose interest within pages. Too bad b/c there are so many excellent books that keep coming out

My all time fave is ok this is embarassing:o
The Lorax by Dr. Suess
The genre is kiddie book with an earth friendly message.
It's been my favorite since I was a kid. I just really like the message it gives about greed and the need to take care of the environment.

If I have to pick a grown up book then ANYTHING H.P. Lovecraft.
