No matter how poor we are, I need to give (generally speaking) for fear that my family will pay for it in the future.

My father said that it was a common belief but it's wrong and I shouldn't think that way. But I can't help it. :(

If everyone gives all of the time and noone recieves, noone can give. There needs to be a balance when giving. If the gift will be harmful to yourself, then it is probably not recommended. Just my quick thought.
