This is, of course, how mutinies and revolts start... 1st it's turning our badges (for those of us who have them) backwards, refusing to wear uniforms, changing the formula, etc.
Have a great time Allan!!! We'll take care of things around here.... trust us!:D:D:D

David O

No... No... it just means Mark is given the wrong address across town where he can hear badly written Redneck lines:
Benign - What you be, after you be eight.
Artery - The study of paintings
Bacteria - Back door to cafeteria
Barium - what doctors do when patients die
Cesarean section - a neighborhood in Rome
Cat scan - searching for kitty
Cauterize - made eye contact with her
Colic - a sheep dog
coma- a punctuation mark
D & C - Where Washington is
Dilate - to live long
OK-- nuff said!

David...
That's FUNNY!! I giggled right out loud!! Now even the cat thinks I'm crazy :)
David O
08-31-2009, 06:33 AM
The cat not only thinks your crazy, but even believes it is a captive or slave:
CAT THOUGHTS
DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from shredding the occasional piece of furniture.
Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant and cough it up on the carpeting.
DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded -must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed (again).
DAY 762 - Slept all day so that I could annoy my captors with sleep depriving, incessant pleas for food at ungodly hours of the night.
DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan ...
DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason, I was chosen for the water torture. This time, however, it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth and the tiny bit of flesh under my claws.
DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer." More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.
DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The Bird on the other hand has got to be an informant. He has mastered their frightful tongue (something akin to mole speak) and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

This Old Cat
I'm getting on in years,
My coat is turning gray.
My eyes have lost their luster,
My hearing's just okay.
I spend my day dreaming
Of conquests in my past,
Lying near a sunny window
Waiting for its warm repast.
I remember our first visit,
I was coming to you free,
Hoping you would take me in
And keep me company.
I wasn't young or handsome,
Two years I'd roamed the street.
There were scars upon my face,
I hobbled on my feet.
I could sense your disappointment
As I left my prison cage.
Oh, I hoped you would accept me
And look beyond my age.
You took me out of pity,
I accepted without shame.
Then you grew to love me,
And I admit the same.
I have shared with you your laughter,
You have wet my fur with tears.
We've come to know each other
Throughout these many years.
Just one more hug this morning
Before you drive away,
And know I'll think about you
Throughout your busy day.
The time we've left together
Is a treasured time at that.
My heart is yours forever.
I Promise - This old cat.

Actually, my cat probably does think she's a captive. I brought her back when I moved home from Russia on a 14 hour adventure. She's pretty much able to meow in English now but purring in English can be such a challenge!! :)
And she's really mad about the nerve I had to bring that blasted kitten into HER house!!
malign
08-31-2009, 10:51 AM
Perhaps she's really a spy, sending coded purr messages home to Mother Russia using whisker antennas. That's why she still purrs in Russian. The kitten is an agent of our government trying to catch her at it, and that's the true source of the animosity.
Yes, I'm sober; why do you ask? ;-)
danni
09-01-2009, 06:51 PM
Yes....that could be..... But....... (ponder this for a moment)
The "domestic shorthair" is the cat I brought home from Russia.
The "Russian Blue" is the kitten I got here in America.
So.....who's the spy now :)

Boy this thread has gone tangential. It started as a simple announcement, went to mutiny and revolt since Allan was leaving and now we're on cats and espionage! What's next, redneck and Yo Momma jokes, a car forum or maybe cooking Celtic-African-Peruvian cuisine????? Ay, Ay, AY. :D

Yeah, who's steering this thing? :-)
But now I'm curious about Celtic-African-Peruvian cuisine ...
hmmmmm....... anyone else getting hungry????
Well... here ya go, a full meal at one sitting:
Celtic Vegetables: Colcannon. Originally and Irish dish of boiled potatoes and cabbage or kale mashed together and flavored with onion, shallots, or leeks and cream or butter
African main course of meats: Polvo a modo ze de Lino - Octopus Stew (with monkey?)
Peruvian desert:King Kong San Roque-- cookies filled with caramel milk, pineapple, and quince mix.
MX drinks to water it down: Champurrado- a chocolate-based atole or a warm and thick Mexican drink, based on masa harina (hominy flour), piloncillo (brown sugar type sweetener), water or milk and occasionally containing cinnamon, anise seed and or vanilla bean.
Sooooooooooo.... anyone hungry now?
When I lived in Latin America (13 years) we ate things many would consider too much: monkey, capybara (rat), tarantula, guinea pig, llama fetus, horse... wel the number of delicacaies is too long to list.
Buene provecho (Bon apetit!)!

I have a serious chocolate weakness too.
Octopus stew? Ohhh...I'm not much of an adventurous eater. I wonder if that means anything. Darned analyzing...
I've always had a dream of going to the market and buying all of the lobsters. Then I would drive them out to the water, untie their poor little claws and then watch them crawl out to sea...free at last.
Don't think I could eat octopus. Nope.
BTW, I'm glad you're now a moderator, David O. :D

Hey Guys,
I think we got everything to get the party going: food, entertainment (poetry reading, cat show, joke telling, etc.). Everybody's invited! I'll bring the drinks! Shall we have it in the Lounge? Lots of music there! Mark may be getting suspicious! Shall we invite him too? He's cool! (and we (I) need a designated driver!). Party! Party! Party! :D
David O
09-05-2009, 03:08 AM
OK... now this thread has really gotten out of hand. Here are the topics we've covered (not in order);
1) First there was the harmless intro
2) Then we went o wishing Allan well
3) Then a Mutiny revolt plus party
4) How to invite mark but send him to a redneck party across town
5) Then there was the whole list of Kitty jokes/thoughts and what-evers
5) Then the Kitty espionage
6) Now we have Peruvian-African-Celtic foods and people getting hungry about octopus stew and monkey brains
7) How some folks get weak kneed around chocolate,
8) Now we're back to the party and whether "cool Mark" should be called back from the redneck party we sent him to
And so to keep it alive, I think we should cover something deep, such as How "caca" happens:
Today's reading is from the "Book of Academic Life", Chapter 1, verses 1-15. In the beginning was the Plan. And with the Plan were the Assumptions. And the Assumptions were without form. And the Plan was without substance. And darkness was upon the face of the faculty. And they spoke among themselves saying, "It is a crock of shit and it stinks." And the faculty went unto their Chairs and said,"It is a bucket of dung and we cannot live with the smell." And the Chairs went unto the Deans saying, "It is a container of organic waste, and it is very strong, such that none may abide it." And the Deans went unto their Associate Vice-Provosts, saying, "It is a vessel of fertilizer and none may abide its strength." And the Associate Vice-Provosts spoke among themselves, saying, to one another, "It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong." And the Associate Vice-Provosts went to the Provost, saying, unto him, "It promotes growth, and it is very powerful." And the Provost went to the President, saying unto him, "This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigor of the university with very powerful effects." And the President looked upon the Plan and deemed that it was good. And thus the Plan became Policy. And this is how shit happens.

hey can you get a staff discount ?
Do they sell chocolate there ?
Hey david whats the uniform like ?
David O
09-17-2009, 03:55 PM
Walmart for non-Americans, is an extremely high end store with a very exclusive, well-to-do clientele! That has been Malign's dream job, to be a greeter there... mine has been to work the pet section. Chocolates is in another department, somewhere close to fine furs and higher end jewelry. It's really sad that the UK dosn't have them but they sprawl all over Mexico and other 3rd world nations, where money is, of course, hoarded so other counries can't see the real wealth.
The uniform... well, it's a deep blue with shoulder pads that make it look similar what Mickey Mouse would wear to a party given by Mizz Piggy.

The Germans, apparently afraid that mental illness is contagious, run off in panic...meanwhile, the asylum inmates discover that the doors they have been locked behind are suddenly open and they run free.

Jj They can be immense in some places. One manager told me once that if they raised their prices 1 cent for one day, the number of times sold in one day would garner an additional $100,000 for that day!!! hmmmmmm So, do you role-play a different movie every Thursday? Jj/David O, I follow a strickly heart healthy diet-FYI!
Chocolate is a Vegetable: chocolate is derived from cocoa beans. Bean = vegetable. Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar beets. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable. To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So chocolate is a health food.
