I'm going "home"!!! I know that's a weird way to put it but....

I just agreed to take a service group to Russia where I lived and worked for 5 years. My "family" there is more real than the family I came from. I haven't been back there for 3 years but we talk on the phone approx once a week.

while there I developed programs that assist orphans. The program closest to my heart was an arts rehabilitation center that provides arts therapy (visual, music, drama etc.) and also provided training in life skills, psychological services and legal services. So....between that, a free clinic for African refugees, soup kitchens, and a visit to play with the babies at a baby orphanage. I think they'll be busy for a week!! Then I get to send them away and I'll spend an extra week playing with my friends.

And me.....well....I'm going HOME!!! Did I mention I'm excited!!

Hey, that sounds great, danni, just from the way you're talking about it. I assume you speak Russki? A friend of mine wanted to learn Russian, when we were kids. Of course, those were the bad old days ...

I hope you'll at least be able to keep in touch? It would be nice to hear about happy kids, for a change.

thanks everyone!!! The trip's actually a little ways away. It's a student group from the church I work at. (That's my second job....I'm a music coordinator/choir director at a church on campus....I have a music degree too.) So.....we will be doing it for spring break in March. Which is good because....a) it give me something positive to keep me moving forward and b) this is turning out to be a lot of work to organize!!!

Oh....and yes malign....I do speak Russian now. I didn't when I first moved there though. I picked up because of the total emersion and a lot of self study.
