Lightbulb Chat

Just curious if there was a way to add live chat to this forum. Might be kinda cool to be able to hang around together and chat in real time once in a while. I guess there's enough already out there with gmail/gtalk, msn, AIM, etc. but, maybe one dedicated here might be a good thing. Just a thought.

Hey there John,

Thats a cool idea, some of us use our blogs to chat, but it would be good if the "powers that be" could organise something like that. Maybe even set up a forum for it ???

Some message boards (proboards for example) have them built right into the code. It's wide open though - not like say gmail where you can chat one on one or setup a group chat. The other type is more like a drop in, hang out place where everyone can chat with whoever happens to be logged in.

I would imagine there are addons that you can simply link to or drop some code into the forum to add one.

Default Well...

I've poked around the web and found some chatrooms that can be setup and added simply by copying some code into this site. And there could be any number of rooms too or just a general gathering place; whatever.

Anyway, there's also gtalk which is also free and easy enough. It can be downloaded here and is really easy to use: http://www.google.com/talk/

Only thing is it's not connected directly to this site so, you would have to manually enter anyone from here who is also on it. Just figured I'd post it, for anyone interested.

Default Made a chat room for us!

Okay so, I found this neat little thing that sets up a free chatroom. Anyone can use it and you don't have to register! Yeah! When it asks for a login, just use whatever you want - that's how you will be displayed onscreen. Anyway, here's the link:

Feel free to use it anytime.
